Sonae Arauco is presenting today, in Italy, an innovative recycled MDF panel with non-fossil resin, in the context of the wood-based solutions industry:BioReFiber X.
BioReFiber X is a circular economy solution that incorporates recycled MDF fibers and biomass-balanced resin, replacing fossil raw materials with renewable raw materials, enabling CO2 emissions to be reduced by up to 25%. The new solution will be produced in Portugal, at the Mangualde plant, and will be available in the second quarter of 2026.
Adelaide Alves, Group R&D and Product Development Director at Sonae Arauco, says: "The development of this new product represents a balance between innovation and sustainability, which are priorities for Sonae Arauco. We believe that the future of the industry lies in creating high-quality solutions that meet customer needs, but also respect the principles of the circular economy and the limits of the planet. BioReFiber X meets all these requirements by combining recycled wood fibers with an adhesive system that minimises the use of fossil-based raw materials.”
