Heat in classrooms has become a problem that negatively affects students' academic performance. At Faro Barcelona, we join the commitment of educational center authorities, architects, and installers to ensure thermal comfort in classrooms.

It is essential to guarantee a comfortable environment that promotes learning and students' performance.

Faro Barcelona ceiling fans provide a gentle and constant breeze that helps maintain an optimal temperature in classrooms.

That's why at Escuelas Pias, there was a need to be able to air-condition the classrooms in a more sustainable and efficient way.

Faced with this situation, they decided to contact Joan Carles, Technical Director of Airnou specialists in air conditioning for over 30 years, to offer them the best solution.

Did you know that combating heat with an efficient ventilation system improves students' performance in classrooms?

There are many advantages of ceiling fans over air conditioning. Air ventilation is healthier, avoiding throat dryness and the typical summer colds caused by air conditioners. Ceiling fans do not emit any toxic gases, so they are not only a much healthier option but also more environmentally friendly.

Air ventilation helps maintain air circulation in classrooms, especially in those where windows are not always open for security reasons, thus facilitating the removal of suspended particles and creating a healthier environment for students and teachers.

One example of achieving good air conditioning in classrooms is the one carried out at Escuelas Pias in Caldes de Montbui.

Do you want to know the main challenges of this project and how these results were achieved? We tell you all firsthand in an interview with Joan Carles from Airnou.

Customer Needs

From the central office of Escuelas Pias, the need to install a ventilation system in the classrooms that was as efficient and safe as possible was identified.

The project began with a first phase where ceiling fans were installed in the preschool classrooms. Subsequently, after seeing the good results, the second phase continued with the installation of more ceiling fans in the primary and secondary school classrooms.

They needed to install ceiling fans that were lightweight but efficient, as well as silent to avoid disturbance.

They were also looking for the healthiest air conditioning model possible to guarantee the well-being of the students.

Control with Wall Regulator

Another challenge was how to control the ceiling fans. In some schools, an on/off switch that turns on the fans was installed, while in others, a key switch was installed.

Fan control is straightforward and personalized: through a wall controller.

The key switch allows the teacher to have total control over turning the fan on and off, thus reinforcing safety in the classroom. This key is generic for all switches, making it easy to use in all classrooms and allowing you to turn on all the fans at the same speed at which they are programmed.

Installation Recommendations

The school had doubts about how many ceiling fans should be installed per classroom, but they sought advice from Joan Carles from Airnou, who assured them that the most optimal way was to install 3 ceiling fans per classroom, as well as a customized receiver to ensure they always turn on at the same speed.

Whenever possible, it is better to install 3 fans per classroom (depending on the area, whether it is a primary or secondary classroom, or based on orientation) to guarantee the installation's good performance.

A ceiling fan doesn't cool, it simply moves air. When we feel the breeze generated by the ceiling fan, we experience a sensation of freshness because the air is drying the moisture from our bodies.

Chosen Ceiling Fan Model: Punt M

The PUNT M model in white was chosen because it is very light and small. Additionally, thanks to its low ceiling drop, it is safer, especially in secondary school classrooms. Thanks to its DC motor, they are much quieter, maintaining students' performance.

Also, having the reverse function allows them to be used not only in summer but also in winter, helping achieve uniformity in the temperature of the warm air from the heating during the colder months.

Result and Customer Feedback

At Airnou, they were already familiar with the Faro Barcelona brand for about 5-6 years. Quality and proximity were key aspects in choosing Faro ceiling fans, in addition to the good feedback they had from other installations.

Among the different fans, they saw that Faro Barcelona's fans were the most economically sustainable, in addition to having a more beautiful design, lightweight, and compact.

In conclusion, Faro Barcelona's new ventilation designs are ideal for educational environments as they are made with lightweight materials and have the ability to create air currents that guarantee pleasant comfort in classrooms.

The manufacturing under strict safety standards and the tests to which Faro Barcelona fans are subjected guarantee their quality and durability. In addition, at Faro Barcelona we have developed a technology through a 0-1/10v gateway to manage DC fans in home automation installations, such as Bacnet, KNX, Lutron, Casambi or Loxone, etc. In this way, centralised, group or individual speed and light control is achieved.

The 0-1/10v gateway allows FARO WP fans to be integrated into the existing home automation system. Depending on the model and the available functions, different speed options can be configured. Currently, up to 99 different fans can be configured with a single gateway.

Faro Barcelona's experience in ventilation projects is endorsed by the study and implementation of ventilation projects in schools such as Liceo Francés, Escuelas Pias, and other educational centers in our country.
