The MAYA and TOTEM products have won the prestigious RedDot Award 2023 in the Product Design category. These two designs stand out for their functionality and aesthetics, as well as for their respect for the environment and their integration into their surroundings.
The TOTEM collection of outdoor bollards, designed by Roger Vancells, stands out for its simplicity and rounded, brutalist-inspired lines, which emphasise the beauty of the natural concrete used in its manufacture. The aim of incorporating concrete as the main material is to add a traditional architectural language to the design of these luminaires, but without having a negative impact on the environment in order to integrate perfectly with the surroundings.
TOTEM's bi-directional light projection illuminates 360º on the ground, making it an integrated element in the environment both day and night. These outdoor bollards provide points of light to indicate paths, walkways or gardens, and have a design with simple, rounded lines that highlight the beauty of the natural concrete used in their construction.
On the other hand, the MAYA collection designed by Faro Lab stands out for its elegant black, white and terracotta finish, and for its rounded glass diffuser that projects a warm and pleasant light. The MAYA lamp has a dimmer to adjust the intensity of the light according to the user's needs. The design frame extends the light source and the front plates allow customisation for special projects.
This luminaire has been awarded for its versatility, as it can be used as a table or wall lamp. In addition, it has two installation possibilities: directly to the wall or by cable.
Both designs have been recognised for their functionality and aesthetics, as well as for their respect for the environment and their integration into their surroundings. Faro Barcelona's MAYA and TOTEM products are an example of how innovation in design can go hand in hand with sustainability and the latest trends in the lighting market.
